A Mix of Everything

A lil bit of this and a lil bit of that!

In the last week or so, Eden Brae has been quite the busy lil bee so it seems. Since the engagement, they've finished up some items that could only be completed when the brickwork is finished.

With Christmas just round the corner, it also appears Santa may have made his entrance into our new place - leaving behind a nifty lil gift stuck to my roof! Scroll to the bottom to check it out!

Going to the chapel...

and WE'RE GOING TO GET MARRIED!!!

Bubu has gotten down on one knee and proposed! To Mumu!

Best weekend va-cay at Young ever~~!!!

Its been five and a half years since we started dating and bubu remembered that I have always wanted to go cherry picking but never knew where people went to do it.

So, a trip was planned to go to Young about five months ago and what was thought to be a short vacation away from the stress of building our home and from work became a life-changing trip for me:)

I won't go into too much detail of how he did it because its a special moment I'd like to keep to ourselves. But a ring was planted on a Ron cherry before Ron got down on one knee and asked
"Will you pick me?"

My answer of course was a definitive yes!

And lucky me- I get to plan our wedding:) watch this space... I might share some wedding ideas soon after the house construction is complete:)

We've got cladding and you know it - Clap your hands!

CLAD your hands, CLAD CLAD your hands! (Far East Movement Style Bitches.....)

We finally have cladding! YIPPPEEEE (two thumbs up ^_^) I'm really digging the Southern Texas mini planation house look - cos let's face it... No one really builds the house Ryan built Rachel in the Notebook. But in my mind... our house is a close contender. Afterall, Bubu bought and built this house for me :) What more can a girl ask for? (edit: Build a house for your gf and its only second best......sigh FML)

It didn't take long for them to install and paint them either - just 3 DAYS! They still have to put the cladding up under the first floor front winodws but with the constant rain at night they havernt done anything for the whole week! ARGH.

Wonder what the builders will finish before Christmas! Maybe Santa will come by the unfinished house and leave a lil present for us!

Lock up shouldnt be too far away! Heres a sneak peak of the cladding.

Roof Roof!

Finally A Roof Over Our Heads :)

The house has certainly started to take shape and look like an actual house. Now we can actually squat without getting wet.

The weather of late has been slightly eratic with sudden bouts of rainfall and stinkin' hot 30 deg days (Don't you just love Sydney weather?) But you know what they say... what doesn't break ya' only makes you stronger... I just hope that principle applies to wooden frames and floor boards (Fingers crossed!!!).

We also have the guttering installed. We had chosen dune for the colour of the gutters but Bubu is almost certain that the colour installed is cream and not quite the colour we had chosen.

I've taken two looks at the shade and saw nothing wrong with it.

Bubu had a brilliant idea which is to take the gutter colour swash to the gutters installed and compare them to make sure the gutters being used are indeed dune.

What do you guys think?

Does this look Dune to you?

Overall, I love how the house is coming together and its been fun anticipating what's gonna come on next!

Now for Bubu's artistic shot, peering the house from the bushes...

Fully Brick Bro! - Part 2

Bricks All Around!

Its been almost 2 weeks now since I've posted! but I've been to our site every day since hahaha!

The bricks are ALMOST done! and its been interesting seeing the house literately come together brick by brick! There is only the top section of the garage, the front balcony and some of the right hand side still to be bricked.

I'm thinking if the rain holds off we should have the house fully bricked by the end of the week. Also arranged to meet our SS this Friday morning to do a walk through of the building and ask the long list of questions we have to fix hahaha.

Here are some "progressive" pics of it all happening. Enjoy!

Fully Brick Bro!

Bricks Delivered

Rain Rain go away! Come back another day! ARGH! sigh its been bucketing rain ever since the frames have gone up. Not happy Jan!

But at least the Bricks have arrived! by the pallet load and its everywhere hahaha. Theres pallets of bricks in the front yard and pallets of bricks in the back yard.

Seems like the brickies are ready to go with those neat little stacks all along the perimeter of the house. Hope they will start bricking the house before the weekend. Anyways here are some pictures :)

Fully Framed Up

Second Floor Frame Up / Windows In

Frames to the second floor are finished and all windows are in! And we are enjoying the progress of our new home. There were some bits to the house we weren't so happy about like the sealant excess on the window frames and our sliding door not closing properly. But we have noted every issue down and fully intend on making sure Eden Brae is aware of them and makes all the neccessary adjustments to fix it up.

We proudly present the first pics of our house in all its Hyne T2 skeletal glory!!!

First Floor Frame Up

FRAMES ARE UP! YAYYERZZZZZ

Our house is finally starting to take some shape! It didn't take long after the slab was cured before they put the frames to the first floor in:)

I'm liking the skeletons of our new place and simply can't wait till the second floor gets put up.

Your Honor, we have CONCRETE evidence

Nothing screams SOLID like CONCRETE does!

SOLID!!!

We are heaps heaps heeeaaapppss excited about the concrete slab that greeted us as we drove to our piece of land late this afternoon:)

It just feels so surreal and everything just seems to be happening so quickly!

In the blink of an eye, we've gone from dirt to dead set concrete - kinda makes me think of the Big Yellow Taxi song where they paved paradise and put up a concrete slab.... geddit? maybe.. but you get the point.

Without further ado... here are the pics. Enjoy! I know we did:)

How u like 'em waffles?

Waffle Pod In

Went to the site today, AGAIN, after work. Clocking up the klm's and drinking that fuel but TOTALLY WORTH IT!

Today it seems like the builder has made good use of the steel reinforcement and waffle pods delivered yesterday because lo and behold the waffle pods are in and clipped and the steel meshing is sitting on the "bar chairs".

It was dark so i couldn't really see if the waffle pods were laid on crushed rock. Couldn't see the black builders plastic that is meant to stop moisture from below the slab, but i did see it delivered yesterday so the assumption is they used it?

Its really starting to take shape! Hope the rain holds off so i can have my slab by the end of the week!
